Vintage Baby Ribbon by the Yard
More Ties
More Babies
This sweet baby blue satin ribbon features flocked designs and the words,
For Baby
The little elephants and rattles that surround it are included along with the words. Each motif is multicolored and very sweet and includes a rattle, teddy bear and little elephant, too. The ribbon is surprisingly supple for its age. In fact you might just want to use parts of it to embellish a card or other baby specialty. Of course, there are lots of big babies out there who might love this as well.
We bought this in an old, old craft store in a Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania neighborhood before it "went modern".
This ribbon measures just about 7/8 inch wide.

Vintage Pressed Glass Charm - White Elephant
More Charms
More Vintage Items
Same Charm in Green
Originally sold in the 5 and 10 cent stores back in the 1920s and 1930s, this very special pressed glass charm was made in Japan. It measures about 3/8 inch high (not including to little metal loop) and about 7/16 inch wide.
The color in the glass is slightly variegated, but the main color of each charm is ivory or white. Even the string is original (the color of the string may vary from the one pictured).
These are new old stock - never used. We even found them in the original box marked Made in Japan. These were manufactured as a novelty - perhaps for a little girl's charm bracelet, so please allow for some variability.
The term white elephant is one we remember from the 1950s and 1960s tag sales - often called White Elephant Sales. The white elephant was a rare and beautiful animal and considered sacred in southeast Asian countries as Burma (now Myanmar), Siam (now Thailand), Laos and Cambodia. Still sacred in Myanmar and Thailand, the White Elephant is expected to bring peace and prosperity to the owner. Receiving a gift of a white elephant is both a blessing and a curse. It's rarity makes it a blessing, but to care for it makes it a curse, as it is so expensive.

Art Postcard - The Little Prince (Adult Explanations)
More French Items
We are all philosophers, but none so extraordinary as Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, in his voice as the Little Prince. This lovely postcard bears one of his most expressive thoughts in two simple pictures. Under the first, the card reads:
My drawing was not a picture of a hat. It was a picture of a boa constrictor digesting an elephant.
Beneath the second (as we see inside the snake), it reads:
I drew the inside of the boa constrictor, so that the grown-ups could see it clearly. They always need to have things explained.
On the back of the postcard, the same thought is translated into French (the original), German, Portuguese, Dutch, Italian, Spanish and Swedish.

Embossed Die Cut Reproduction Scrap - Wild Animals
More Scraps & Die Cuts
Animals of All Kinds
Animal lovers and scrap lovers alike will be delighted with this Victorian-style scrap sheet. The sixteen wild animals are all rendered in the Victorian painting style and loaded with detail. Each of the images is about the same size (about 2 inches wide by about 1-1/2 inch high), so they are not in scale to each other. The standardized size of each image might be just what you need for that special découpage project.
There is a polar bear, kangaroo, lion, ocelot, walrus, gazelle, water buffalo, camel, hyena, goat, rhinoceros, elephant, zebra, tiger, bison and beaver.
The scrap relief sheet is approximately 9 inches by 7 inches, ready for you to clip and use in your artwork. And each sheet is lightly embossed to accent the images. This piece is extremely well trimmed with expert die cutting - so well done, that very little trimming is necessary.

One Gross of Vintage Plastic Zoo Animals
More Vintage Stuff
More Animals
More Grab Bags
Originally a Shredded Wheat premium, this zoo full of animals hails from the 1950s or 1960s. On the back of each of the animals is the animals name. There are all kinds here: bears, wolves, birds, elephants and more! Each bag contains an assortment of a gross (144) individual plastic pieces. Each assortment is different.
Some of the animals come in several colors. These were originally intended as some sort of learning toy. On the back of each animal is the name molded into the plastic. When we inspected them all, we expected to find one animal for every letter of the alphabet, but no such luck. Not quite all of the letters were represented. But you can rest assured that you'll get a good mix!
Most of the little critters stand nicely on their flat bases. There might be a few that need a touch of trimming to stand properly. The back (except for the name) is flat. The front of each character is 3-dimensional and nicely detailed.
At less than 18¢ each, these are a bargain. We've seen them on eBay in smaller groups for much, much more!

Later that day it was learned...the circus had arrived in the wee morning and unloaded down the street.

Vintage Chenille Animal Figures
Now, we're not really sure why these were created in the first place, but they are definitely unique! Each package contains a set of four chenille animals: [what we think are] a lion, a cat, an elephant and a long-eared dog.
Each figure's body is constructed of vintage chenille and a waxy-paper face is glued on front. The colors vary, but are mostly earthy tones of rust, red and forest.
Use these as is for package decoration, embellished ornaments and whimsical additions to your artwork....But better still, remove the faces and replace with vintage holiday scraps for extraordinary results!
Finding vintage chenille stems (pipe cleaners) is difficult and can be very expensive! And reproducing the vintage feel is time consuming and results are not always satisfactory, so save time with these little fellows!
