Our six-sided stars feature a solid medallion in the center with a tiny cross of crowns and filigree embossing. Each star measures 2-3/4 inch from at the widest. The internal medallion is 1-1/16 inch in diameter.

These are highly embossed heavy-weight silvery Dresden motifs of doves. They are perfect for making ornaments because the are bright and shiny silver - just like the Victorian Dresdens! There two pairs of large doves in mirror image (measuring about 4 cm by 4 cm) as well as the larger center dove and 3 smaller doves and a few little leafy branches.
Long used for embellishing ornaments and glued to other paper scraps and decoupage projects, these wonderful motifs are appropriate for just about any holiday.
The embossing on these reliefs is superb, as is the cutting. These are new but are made in the same fashion as they have been for many, many decades!

We were lucky enough to find these hand-glittered scraps for your pleasure. These are made in the same way as they have been for years by the manufacturer in England. There are two lovely old-fashioned faces of the man himself, Santa Claus. Each one measures around 3 inches high by approximately 1-3/8 inch wide. The detail is quite charming. One of our jolly old fellows wears a little snowman pin in his cap and the other, holly and golden bells.
Make a simple decoration by gluing one of Santa's faces to a simple circle of cardstock, add a few sparkly chenille stems, or a bit of glitter glue around the edges.

Reproduction Victorian Embossed & Die Cut Scraps - Holly
Although holly is thought to be the Christmas plant, it's roots in household decoration really must be attributed to the Druids. Like so many Christian and Catholic practices, the use for holly at yuletide stems from folklore and traditions of preceding religions.
Holly remains green all winter and its red berries stand out against the snow. For that reason, the Druids associated it with everlasting life and with a fruitful life and fertility. Initially, holly was banned from Christian and Catholic churches. So, the Christians added some additional symbolism, seemingly to "make it work" appropriately for acceptance. The red berries represent the blood that Christ shed, the prickly leaves are reminiscent of the Crown of Thorns. Legend has it that the berries were originally white, until Christ died.
Not only the Druids, but the Celtic clans and the Romans also considered holly to be good luck. Now that the symbolism works for everyone, you'll find people of all beliefs decorating with holly in the winter.
This wonderful scrap sheet features five motifs decked with holly: a lovely wreath with a big red bow, two cherubs with ringing bells, a kitty cat peeking from an envelope that has been loaded with pine and holly branches, another set of bells and a Victorian shoe with a touch of holly.

Each side is gorgeous as the gilded paper is perfectly applied to either side. Each butterfly measures 4-3/8 inch by 4-3/4 inch. Dresdens just like this one were often hung by golden threads on holiday trees, in windows and elsewhere.
Just imagine the lucky fairy who wears these wings! You can accent the cutting with colorful paints (use paints made for metals, or alcohol-based markers, for the easiest application). Or sprinkle some stardust lightly on the wings.

Our charming vintage Dresden bells don't ring - they are made of hard pressed golden paper. Measuring 1-5/8 inch long by 1-3/8 inch wide, hearts feature Cupids arrow running right through them for your Valentine and other projects. Each heart measures 1 inch from top to bottom and 1-7/8 inch from arrow tail to arrow point. These are reversible and are really made of two bells glued together. Each one has a silky twisted cord for hanging on your tree or attaching to a gift package.

We've never seen these anywhere else and have found them hard to trace. We know them to be at least from the 1930s or 1940s because of the printing style, but they could be earlier than that.
What is truly wonderful about these is that they are printed equally as beautifully on both sides! Of, course, the picture is reversed on the opposite side! The scrap measures 5-1/4 inches wide by 4-1/4 inches high. The paper is heavier than scrap sheets, but lighter than cardstock and feels a bit like blotter paper, but it is not a blotter.

Old Fashioned Die Cut & Embossed Blue Santa with Toys
This reproduction of an antique scrap is new, but in the tradition of Victorian scraps and die cut ornaments of old. Our Santa Claus, or Belsnickel, is dressed in a traditional blue coat with fur trim and is carrying a pretty tree and lots of toys to the next house he plans to visit.
Created as a gift tag, it is still perfect as an old-fashioned ornament or as an addition to your holiday artwork. Use a bit of mica or glass glitter and you might even fool someone into thinking this is an old one. The sweet die cut is made of lightweight cardboard rather than paper, so you might even add an easel backing for stand-up display.
Santa measures 6-3/8 by 3-1/4 inches and is lightly embossed.

These are highly embossed double-sided golden Dresden wings just waiting for their angels. Perhaps a bell will ring six times and six angels you'll make. These are great for your holiday crafts and other artwork. Long used for embellishing ornaments and glued to other paper scraps and decoupage projects, these wonderful motifs are even more special because they are golden - one of the traditional colors of many of ornaments of the Victorian period.

These fantastic scraps are vintage - over 50 years old! They were created by a company named EAS - E. A. Schwerdtfeger, Berlin. They produced scrap pictures like these from 1880 to 1980. These scrap picture sheets are new old stock - usually to save. But, we like to use them for creating vintage-style ornaments and décor - with vintage parts. These are in great condition, but they are old and they are paper, so please be careful.
These images are so sweet and they are not reproduced (as far as we know) today. They feature charming little images of dogs and cats at play in the back yard.

Vintage Embossed Die Cut VINTAGE Scraps - Tulips
The superb die-cutting and vibrant chromolithography in these wonderful scraps will tempt you to treasure the sheet rather than use it in your artwork or craft project. There are six bouquets of tulips (and we have to admit, that tulips are our favorite of all the flowers). Each of the bouquets features a different grouping and different vase. Each of the bouquets, while different, measures about 4 inches tall by approximately 3-1/2 inches wide.
These were produced in Germany about 50 years ago (maybe longer) by the PZB company (Paul Zoecke, Berlin). This wonderful old family company closed in 1980 after running for 180 years. There are fewer and fewer of these wonderful scrap papers to be found.

Extremely Rare Antique Santa Scraps from L&B - Package of 18
These old German scraps were produced by Littauer & Boysen (L&B), who stopped making scraps in 1920. We're not sure of their exact printing date, but we do know they are almost 100 years old - at least!
This set of 18 Santa faces features several different images. Some appear to be the same, but at closer inspection, you'll see slight variation. Each head is a bit different, but the average size appears to be about 5/8 inch wide by 1-3/16 high.
You'll find the quality of the images to be superlative. The paper weight is a bit thicker than the reproduction scraps made today. The die-cutting is so finely executed that you can almost tear these apart, but we suggest that you trim them with delicate scissors (such as scherenschnitte scissors). The detailed embossing is amazing as well.

This vintage sticker was produced by the Abingdon Press (a publishing house associated with the Methodist Church). Each nicely die-cut with the earthy autumn tones you'd expect when coloring a turkey. Each seal measures 2-1/8 inches high by 7/8 inch at the widest part.
These were originally sold separately, but we've not been able to determine the original price, as they were made in the mid-20th century.
Because the adhesive on the back is as vintage as the pieces themselves, we recommend that you moisten them with a sponge or cloth. Or, use archival glue or paste instead of the vintage adhesive.

Little Skater Couple Die Cut
This reproduction of an antique scrap is new, but in the tradition of Victorian scraps and die cut ornaments of old. This little couple seem to be expert skaters on the local frozen pond.
This can easily be used as a delightful gift tag, or an old-fashioned ornament or as an addition to your holiday artwork. Use a bit of mica or glass glitter and you might even fool someone into thinking this is an old one. The little die cut is made of lightweight cardboard rather than paper, so you might even add an easel backing for stand-up display.

Add a little scrap picture with a dab of glue to the center (or even a Victorian-style sticker), maybe a few pieces of angel hair or krausbouillion and you'll create a brand new heirloom!
The base of the ornament measures about 3-1/4 inches in diameter (from one point to the opposite). The loop on top is for hanging and adds about 1/4 inch more. This lovely Dresden is golden on both sides and is weighty enough to be the base for a complex design.

Tradition has it that the night before, children would proudly put their polished shoes outside their bedroom doors and in the morning, lo and behold, surprises such as fresh fruit (so rare in winter), nuts and perhaps a toy would be near!
